Average year for wildlife conflict

The Conservation Officer Service had to destroy 469 black bears this year so far as a result of conflict with people.
27 Grizzly bears have also been destroyed.
But, overall, the Service says it’s been an average year for conflict.
As for investigations, the Service’s Chris Doyle says several are continuing through the courts, including one on Salt Spring…..
Doyle says two individuals from Duncan and one from Victoria were recently charged with trafficking of wildlife meat will will be appearing in Duncan Provincial Court in the coming weeks.
