Social Planning Cowichan Updates North Cowichan Board

A group that aims to promote social cohesion, sustainability and relationship-building in the Cowichan Valley recently appeared before the Municipality of North Cowichan board.
Social Planning Cowichan is requesting $15,000 from the Municipality and the group’s Project Manager, Summer Goulden says Social Planning Cowichan just wrapped up its pilot year and a lot is planned in the next two years.
Goulden says Social Planning Cowichan surveyed ten communities and one trend in particular emerged.

The Environmental Advisory Committee recommended council grant the group the requested funding in next year’s budget.
The money would come from the 2018 Climate Action and Energy Plan Reserve Fund for Cowichan Climate Change’s collaborative public education initiatives.
