Maple Bay beach safe for swimming again

The “no swimming or wading” signs at Maple Bay beach can come down.
Vancouver Island Health Authority’s Dr. Paul Hasselback says the event has been a reminder to users of the area….
No reason for the Maple Bay Beach no swimming advice was issued just before the May long weekend, but tests will continue to ensure the bacteria levels in the water remain at acceptable levels.
Hasselback says high bacteria counts on Vancouver Island beaches are rare but they do happen, however it usually happens later in the season typically with large bather volumes.
