Sad Day for Sunridge employees

264 heath care and support workers were handed layoff notices back in February when Sunridge Place in Duncan was sold along with a number of other care homes on the Island.
Today (Mon) is the last day of work for the staff here in Duncan.
Mike Old, with the Hospital Employees Union says the work has been subcontracted to Care Corp…..
He says the transition hasn’t been all that smooth either.
Old says in Campbell River Care Corp has been bringing in workers from the lower mainland and the interior to work and he’s not sure if that will be the case in Duncan or not.
