Lake Cowichan tourism opportunities in the spotlight

The Town of Lake Cowichan has found itself in a fortunate position.
Better than 200,000 dollars is coming to the community from the province to fund studies to better understand their tourism opportunities.
Cathy Robertson, of Community Futures says it’s generally accepted there are tourism opportunities in the region and, with better than 100,000 dollars, a study will be funded to learn more about how to prepare…..
Robertson says the study, which is expected to begin in January and take 6 months, will not simply be a report, but rather it will be a roadmap of what needs to be done, specifically, to prepare for an increase in tourism.
The Lake Cowichan First Nation was also recently awarded a 100,000 provincial grant to look at the feasibility of a marina project on the north end of the Lake.
