Extreme weather shelters get ready for another season

Most extreme weather shelters around the province are ready to go and with colder temperatures forecast to hit this weekend, some of them may end up opening.
There’s a brand new extreme weather shelter space available in Ladysmith this year in Rialto Manor.
Marsh Stevens, Ladysmith Resources Centre Association Board president, says last year was unusually cold and the extreme weather shelter was set up in Bethel Church…..
The extreme weather shelters are only open when the temperature dip near zero with rain that makes it difficult or impossible for homeless people to remain dry, or there’s sleet and freezing rain, snow accumulation, sustained high winds or temperatures below minus 2, and then there operations are funded by the province.
