When EA’s are sick, children are often sent home too

The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils says it is shocking and unacceptable that 12 per cent of those with special needs kids, who responded to a survey, have had their children sent home because the EA was sick.
Jen Mezei says there are cases where the children were sent home more than ten times during a school year….

Mezei says, in some cases, parents can’t keep a job because they never know when their child may be sent home.

In the Cowichan Valley School District, there are 1,015 special needs students and the province provides funding for 443 of them.

In the Nanaimo Ladysmith School District, there are 1,052 special needs students and the province provides funding for 679 of them.
