There are still no firm committments from any interested parties to turn the old Rona building in the Cowichan Commons into a film production facility.
But the manager of Economic Development Cowichan, Amy Melmock says the announcement last month that the island’s first designated film studios will be built in Parksville is a positive development for us….
Melmock says with new film production training opportunties available through the North Island College we will have a trained workforce on the Island for film and that’s a positive development too.
She says the old Rona building is best suited to for a large production and there have been a few nibbles on it, but nothing on concrete yet.
