RCMP: Cougar spotted around Lake Cowichan

Lake Cowichan RCMP are reporting there was a recent cougar sighting in the community.

Sgt. Wes Olson says a bear has also been spotted over the last few days.

The cougar was reported on Tuesday around 8:30 in the evening by a woman who was out walking her dog on the Ted Burns Nature Preserve trail between Saywell Park and Point Ideal Road.

Olson says they have been investigated

Regardless, Olson says police are cautioning the public about using the trail or other trails in the area.
