Nanaimo RCMP are holding a memorial service for their fallen Moncton comrades on the same day a regimental funeral for the three officers who were shot takes place in the New Brunswick city.
Constable Gary O’Brien says RCMP members and emergency first responders from across Vancouver Island will be traveling to Nanaimo for the service at St Paul’s Anglican Church but seating is limited and will be reserved for those members.
O’Brien says it is important for RCMP members and emergency first responders on the west coast to stand in solidarity with their colleagues on the east coast.
He says the public is welcome to watch the funeral memorial procession, from the RCMP detachment in Nanaimo to the church at 12:30pm.
The RCMPÂ detachment in Duncan has a condolence book available for anyone who wants to sign. Seven thousand are expected to pay their respects to the fallen officers at a regimental funeral service in Moncton today.
