Health Minister says the health system has clearly failed Indigenous people

The province is looking to improve the health outcomes of the Indigenous population when it comes to cancer.

Some of the strategies will include developing partnerships between the health system and Indigenous communities to prevent cancer before it starts.

Health Minister, Adrian Dix says this will be the first strategy of it’s kind in Canada and he hopes others will follow suit.

Other parts of the strategy include improving the knowledge of Indigenous cancer experiences, promoting cultural safety in cancer care services and supporting Indigenous cancer survivors.
