Police urge kids to have safe grad

The RCMP are asking parents in the Cowichan Valley to make sure their teenagers have a plan to get home safely from all of their graduation celebrations and parties.

Corporal Jon Stuart with the North Cowichan/Duncan detachment says graduation season comes with its fair share of problems when it comes to underage drinking.

Stuart says police will be on the lookout for party buses traveling between different communities.

According to the Insurance Corporation of B-C — on average, four youth are killed and over 11 hundred are injured in crashes during graduation season in May and June every year in the province.
