Bill to change dog ownership laws under review

That push to change dog ownership laws in Canada as a result of the Brandon Harrison case is still making it’s way through the system.

Harrison, whose court case started last week in Duncan was legally allowed to keep his dog, a Boston Terrier after allegedly abusing it.

A member of a group of animal advocates in the Cowichan, Chris Davis says the bill is in Ottawa being looked at by legal experts after it was presented to NDP MP Jean Crowder.

He says animal cruelty can be the start of something much worse.

Davis says he has been in court following Harrison’s trial which was adjourned until tomorrow (Tuesday) because a witness didn’t show up last week.
