Aboriginal Day celebrations

The Cowichan Valley is the site this afternoon for an Island Health event focused on promoting First Nations culture.
The coordinator of the aboriginal employment program Steve Sxwithul’txw is overseeing the week-long celebrations on Vancouver Island leading up to Aboriginal Day on Saturday.
He says from 11am to 2pm at the Cowichan District Hospital there will be aboriginal staff recognition activities, cultural dance demonstrations, and traditional foods to name a few.
He adds the event will honour and acknowledge the contributions of approximately 480 dedicated Aboriginal employees who make Island Health a diverse and culturally enriched workplace.
