The wheels are in motion to have a smaller board in place following the school district elections this fall.
Mike McKay, the official trustee for the Cowichan Valley School District says back in 2013 the District Parent Advisory Council asked the Minister of Education to reduce the size of the Board of Trustees from 9 to 5.
A public meeting was held this week to talk about the composition of a new Board.
McKay says the results of the consultation will be sent to the Minister who is expected to make the final decision in short order.
