Lake Cowichan, public workers reach tentative deal

There appears to be light at the end of the tunnel in the contract talks between the Town of Lake Cowichan and United Steelworkers Local 1-1937.

The union’s business agent, Chris Cinkant, explains what happened after staffers issued a 72-hour strike notice last week.

He says workers will vote Tuesday whether they are in favor or against the new tentative agreement.

Cinkant adds the possibility of a new deal is a positive development because the contract dispute can be settled without impacting the residents of Lake Cowichan.
