Alert Ready test this afternoon

At five to two this afternoon you may hear a test of the BC Emergency Alert system.

The test is part of a Canada-wide system called Alert Ready that allows government officials to issue public safety alerts through major television and radio broadcasters.

This system will only be used during large-scale disasters or emergencies where loss of life is imminent and possible.

This test will not include wireless alerts that would come across your phone.

That test is expected to begin in May.
