No word to parents on religious accommodation plans

Parents at Discovery Elementary School have not thrown in the towel yet after issues of religious accommodation surfaced during the last school year.
A group of parents demonstrated in front of the Cowichan Valley School District office back in March.
They were angry after a music teacher, affected by accusations of racism by a student’s family was on leave from her job, and the parents wanted her back.
She has since resigned.
One of the parents who wanted the teacher back, Adam Lossing says the school district may be working on a policy with regards to religious accommodation now, but he’s worried this fall history may repeat itself….
Lossing says he’s trying to arrange a meeting with the appointed trustee to find out what will be done about the issue going forward.
