The Cowichan Valley Regional District has rejected the Balme Ayr Farm gravel processing proposal and a legal opinion seems to have opened up a can of worms.
The rejection comes after a legal opinion that basically told the Board it can’t issue temporary use permits on farmland.
That is according to the Districts own Official Community Plan.
As a result of the ruling the CVRD is looking at some past temporary use permits that were issued.
The District is also taking a closer look at its own bylaws.
