B.C. pulp mills get $100 million in conservation subsidies

The Ministry of Energy and Mines and BC Hydro have introduced a new energy efficiency program aimed at reducing the power costs of mechanical pulp producers in the province.

Energy minister Bill Bennett says $100 million dollars in conservation subsidies are being offered to B.C. pulp mills.

The three-year plan will help pulp mills run by Catalyst Paper, Canfor, West Fraser and Paper Excellence as well as eligible mills in Crofton, Port Alberni, Powell River, Taylor and Port Mellon to name a few.
