Swimmers to attempt 70 kilometre swim at Lake Cow

A pair of long-distance swimmers will attempt swim the length of Cowichan Lake twice from 2 PM on Friday until 6 PM on Saturday.
One of the two participants, Susan Simmons, says the total non-stop swim will be 70 kilometers in length and she hopes her friend Alex Cape and herself can finish it in less than 30 hours.
She adds she hopes the event will raise awareness about a disease that impacts many Canadians.
Simmons says Vicki Keith is the only Canadian on record to ever swim a distance of 70 km or greater in a lake unassisted when she swam 103 km in Lake Ontario way back in 1987.
