Brooks bringing teacher deal plan to Island

Mediator Vince Ready is meeting with BCTF President Jim Iker and government negotiator Peter Cameron.
Friday’s meeting also includes their bargaining committees.
School is supposed to start next week, but BC Conservative Leader Dan Brooks isn’t optimistic.
Brooks is touring the province pushing what he calls a “Common-Sense Plan” to end the dispute.  He’ll be on the Island next week with a stop in Nanaimo on Thursday, Sept 4th.
Brooks is also suggesting a 5 year deal with wages increases of 1.5 per cent a year, a 25-hundred dollar signing bonus, an increase in the Learning Improvement Fund to 150-million by 2017.
Brooks says he suspects a deal, when it comes, will end up looking a lot like his proposal.
