Five people rescued from sinking boat in Sansum Narrows

The Coast Guard’s Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria jumped into action on Sunday when they got word of a boat sinking in Sansum Narrows.

Jeff Olsson is a maritime search and rescue coordinator at the JRCC

He says a pleasure boat came to the aid of the passengers on board the sinking catamaran while Coast Guard volunteers from Vesuvius and Mill Bay put pumps on the damaged vessel.
Olsson says the people were eventually taken to Genoa Bay by Ganges Coast Guard while the catamaran was taken to Maple Bay.
