BCTF votes to lift strike, but Edu. Min. quick to reject binding arbitration proposal

The BC Teachers Federation says members have voted 99.4 per cent in favour of taking down their picket lines – if the government agrees to binding arbitration, and drops the controversial E80 clause.

But within a half hour of the vote Education Minister Peter Fassbender came out with a statement once again rejecting the idea.

BCTF President Jim Iker is still hoping the government will change its mind.

Iker also opened the door to further movement from the union… but he isn’t saying what compromises they’d be willing to make.
