Another mid-Island wildfire a reminder danger remains high
Summer is coming to an end, but warm, dry weather means the wildfire season is likely to carry on into the fall.
Crews from the Coastal Fire Centre, Ladysmith Fire Rescue and the North Oyster Fire Department were called out around 8:30 Sunday morning for a fire off a logging road about 5 kilometers west of Ladysmith.
They had it contained within an hour.
Investigators think the half-hectare blaze was probably human caused.
Fire danger ratings remain at high or extreme throughout the area.
