Preliminary hearing set for accused in Nanaimo mill shooting

Preliminary hearing dates for the man accused of murder in the April 30th shooting at the Western Forest Products mill in Nanaimo have been set.

Kevin Addison appeared by video link in a Nanaimo courtroom on Tuesday. The judge set aside March 10-13, 2015 for the hearing. Addison is facing two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

He won’t be entering a plea before March 10. At the end of that hearing, the judge will determine whether there’s enough evidence for Addison to stand trial.

Marlene Lunn’s husband Mike was one of the two men killed in the shooting. She and several family members were in court today.

The preliminary hearing will take place in Nanaimo. Addison is being held at Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre in Victoria.
