Court Case, Delayed by more than Two Weeks

Six residents in Sahtlam, the Municipality of North Cowichan and the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit will meet in court, but the date has been bumped ahead to the week of September 17.

The hearing was originally scheduled for this week, but due to judge availability, the contentious issue has been moved ahead two and a half weeks.

The six residents of Sahtlam are taking the Motorsport Circuit and the Municipality of North Cowichan to court.

They claim the Municipality didn’t adhere to their own zoning bylaw when they allowed the Motorsport Circuit to set up shop off Highway 18 back in mid-2016.

The six residents of the Sahtlam Neighbourhood Association have also been complaining about the noise emanating from the Circuit.

They claim it’s in violation of provincial Nuisance laws.

That case is set to be heard later this year.
