New underwater observatory launched at Brentwood College

An underwater observatory to record scientific data was sunk off the end of a pier in Mill Bay Friday morning. That’s a good thing for students at Brentwood College, other schools and researchers around the world. Working with Ocean Networks Canada, the private school installed a community observatory in the Saanich Inlet which will transmit a variety of data for research purposes and can be accessed by the public as well.
Maia Hoeberechts is Associate Director of user services with Ocean Networks Canada.
That data will be transferred to UVIC and can be accessed on their web portal at oceannetworks.ca.
Its part of the schools “Local Observations, Global Connections” initiative.
