Tomorrow, people will be trading in their car keys for their cycling gear, as GoByBike week opens in the Cowichan Valley.
The event used to be known as Bike to Work Week and it runs through October 29.
In May, more than two hundred people took part, cycling just shy of ten thousand kilometres, saving about two thousand kilograms of greenhouse gases and Program Coordinator Alyssa Krawchuk said this event is all about promoting other modes of transportation.
“It’s about getting people out on their bikes to ride to school, ride to work, ride downtown to collect some groceries, it’s basically just trying to promote a different method of transportation,” said Krawchuk.
You are asked to register here and Krawchuk is hoping this event exceeds the May numbers.
The opening ceremonies are on October 15, from 4 to 7 pm at Duncan City Square.
