Cowichan River Cleanup Leads to Safety Concerns

A recent Cowichan River cleanup uncovered a disturbing find in the Boys Road area in Duncan.

Warmland Sharps crews, the Cowichan Tribes Bylaw Officer, and concerned citizens found a lot of garbage both on the shoreline and in the river along with the discovery of more than one thousand used needles.

This is a growing problem in the community, as in August alone, members of the Warmland Sharps program picked up 4,400 used needles.

If you need needles to be picked up, call the program line at 250-732-3330.
