The unemployed are getting a chance to upgrade their skills for free through Vancouver Island University.
VIU’s offering free tuition for four different programs, including Class 1 Driver Training, Intro to Culinary Arts, Security Worker Training and a Building Service Worker program.
They’re being offered at both the Nanaimo and Cowichan campuses.
Susan Allen, VIU’s Manager of Professional Development & Training, says the BC Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training is funding the opportunity.
Allen says seats are limited and the courses start at different times, some as early as October 27th, so applications have to be submitted very soon.
