North Cowichan wants to hear from You

Staff at the Municipality of North Cowichan have started working on the 2019 budget, but they need your help.

The biggest capital project on the 2019 books is the addition of the new RCMP detachment, which carries with it an estimated price-tag of $40 million dollars.

Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives with the municipality, Natasha Horsman said it’s important that the public provides feedback into this process.

“We’ve been trying over the last four years to start engagement early on in the budget development process to help inform council about the resident’s priorities and interests at the beginning of each cycle,” said Horsman. “Budget decisions have a huge impact on our community, in terms of what council decides to spend money on.”

Horsman said the RCMP detachment is the major capital project on the books and it’s important to get public consultation on this facility.

“Certainly, that’s going to be one of the main pieces that we’re going to want to talk to resident’s about,” said Horsman.
