Localized flooding on the Malahat

Motorists were reporting a deep pool of water on the Malahat this past weekend.

Some reported the water was three feet deep, or more than 90 centimetres and went over the hood of the car in the Goldstream area.

We reached out to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure who told us that on Saturday evening, a piece of debris fell from a passing vehicle and covered one of the storm drains on the Malahat.

The clogged drain, combined with the significant rainfall, led to roughly 50 centimeters of pooling water on the shoulder of the northbound lane.
