Support pouring in for horse rescue organization

Duncan’s Humanity For Horses Rescue is looking for some support from the community.

Angie Mossa said the organization, which buys horses bound for slaughter from auction marts then rehomes them, has found itself short of cash to continue to care for the 40 or so horses on the farm near Maple Bay.

“We do have some that are long term residents that are just going to live out their days at the foundation either due to health problems or ongoing issues. Age is another one, we do have a lot of seniors that have come from recent auctions that are just going to be there to have their safe landing and live out their days. And so, we are looking for people to help us sponsor them so they can stay where they are.”

There are a number of ways to support the organization.

There is a beer and burger night at the CVI on December 2nd, a Go Fund Me page has been set up, volunteers are also needed to help at the farm or you can adopt one of the horses that are ready to go to a new home.

Since the non-profit, Humanity for Horses, began operating three years ago, Mossa figures they have saved 300 horses from the slaughterhouse.
