Educators from nine Vancouver Island school districts, including the Cowichan Valley, gathered this weekend in Parksville to learn more about teaching coding.
The keynote speaker was Sarah Ryan, from Brilliant Labs in Nova Scotia, who talked about celebrating failure as a teaching strategy and using those moments to show students how it can be a learning opportunity.
Brad Carter, National Development Executive from Apple Canada, talked to teachers about the rapid pace of change and how to prepare their students for it.
Glen Posey, District Principal, Instruction and Technology Services with the Cowichan Valley School District says the event gave teachers new tools to challenge students and keep them interested in their education journey.
