Open houses to examine Cowichan health care

Work is ongoing when it comes to a business plan for a new Cowichan Valley hospital.

Island Health’s Rory Allen said in the meantime, they’ll be holding a series of open houses around the Valley to determine what we think is a sustainable care plan going forward.

“What are the needs in terms of primary care, home supports in the community, community care, population health, long-term care, basically the entire continuum of care in the community and looking at the hospital as part of the broader care in the system.”

All of the information gathered will help inform the business plan for the new hospital.

There are four open houses planned for the Valley, with the first this Friday at the Island Savings Centre from 4 to 6.

Tuesday, staff will be at the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre from 5 to 7, Wednesday at Ladysmith Eagles Hall from 2 to 4 and on Thursday at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena from one to 3.
