BC Ferries Releases Quarterly Earnings

BC Ferries has seen net earnings fall by seven point five million dollars when compared to the same quarter of last year.

There are a number of reasons for the decrease in earnings, including a 15 per cent fare reduction on all but three of the Metro Vancouver – Vancouver Island routes, fares were unchanged on those three routes.

Also, the BC Seniors’ passenger discount increased from 50 to 100 per cent on sailings between Monday and Thursday.

BC Ferries has also made significant capital investments including the Spirit Class mid-life upgrades, Northern Sea Wolf and terminal modifications, along with the purchase of the Island-class vessels, which are under construction.
