3,200 children have food on their plates thanks, in part, to Stuff the Truck
Stuff the Truck for the Cowichan Valley Basket Society continues to the end of this week.
The truck is at Save on Foods until Friday from 6 in the morning until 6 in the evening.
A member on the Board of Directors for the Society, Lee Smith says the organization is busy with the soup kitchen serving 4,000 bowls of soup, 3,250 bunwiches and 1200 salads in October alone.
On top of that, the Food Bank itself handed out 365 hampers to help 571 adults and 239 children.
There were 25 new accounts in October and 7 emergency hampers handed out.
The food and cash donated from the Stuff the Truck campaign is shared with the food banks in Lake Cowichan and Chemainus as well as the Duncan location.
Smith says the supplies can last right into the spring.
The items most needed include soup, tomato sauce, Kraft Dinner, pasta, rice, pork and beans, sugar, peanut butter, jam, powdered milk, canned fruits, canned vegetables.
