Election 2014: Cowichan Valley/Nanaimo Ladysmith School Districts

The Cowichan Valley’s first elected School Board since the province dismissed the previous Board in 2012 will include former Chair Candace Spilsbury and several members of her “Students First” team: Barb De Groot, Cathy Schmidt (also former Trustees) as well as Joe Thorne.

Another team, calling itself “Your Four”, made up of former trustees Deb Foster and Ellen Oxman along with Kayla Barrett and Connie Buckner was shut out.

Several incumbents are out, including Chair Dot Neary, after Saturday night’s elections in School District 68.  Winning seats at the table were “Save Cedar Schools” advocates Steve Rae, Scott Kimler and Stephanie Higginson.  Community advocate, and founding head of the Colliery Dam Park Preservation Society, Jeff Solomon has also been elected
