Cowichan Sportsplex's future foggy following civic elections

There are more questions than answers about the future of the Cowichan Sportsplex after the civic elections.

There were mixed referendum results in the CVRD areas on the idea of providing stable, annual, funding for the facility.

The executive director of the Sportsplex is Catherine Brandon.

The majority of voters in Mill Bay/Malahat, Cobble Hil, Cowichan Bay as well as Cowichan Station/Sahtlam/Glenora were in favour while Shawnigan Lake, Cowichan Lake South/Skutz Falls, Saltair/Gulf Islands, North Oyster/Diamond and Youbou/Meade Creek weren’t.

The proposal was also defeated in Ladysmith and Lake Cowichan.
