UPDATE: Police looking for missing sailor

Vancouver Police now say Yamamoto has been located.  He’s safe and well and in the Gulf Islands area.  VPD is not releasing any other details.

Vancouver Police are looking for help finding a missing man who could be sailing around southern Georgia Strait.

31 year old Rui Yamamoto left Vancouver November 9th on his sailboat. His plan was to spend 6 days sailing along the Sunshine Coast, then over to the Nanaimo area, but he hasn’t returned to work, or been in contact with friends or family.

Yamamoto is Japanese, 5’7′ tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and a moustache.

His boat is a 9-meter “Contessa” model, named the “SKIBO.” It’s white with beige trim.  The registration number is 5OE115285.

Police are asking anyone who sees the man, or his boat, to call 9-1-1.
