Striking employees of a Cowichan Valley newspaper held a rally on Monday in Duncan that saw almost 60 people come together in a sign of solidarity between unions.
Peter McQuade is a national rep with Unifor, the union representing 12 Cowichan News Leader Pictorial staff members.
The rally in front of the outlet also saw Cowichan Valley NDP MLA Bill Routley make an appearance.
The newspaper’s staff and their employer, Black Press, are at a stalemate over wage structure and there were no negotiations between the two sides over the weekend.
