We’re being hit by another wave from an intense Pacific storm system, that’s led to rainfall and wind warnings from Environment Canada.
There are also high stream flow warnings and advisories for many creeks and rivers in the area.
Water levels on the Cowichan River rose nearly 1 metre Tuesday.
In Ladysmith the heavy rains caused an overflow at the sewer treatment plant, forcing the Town to discharge some waste water into the harbour.
And Local states of emergency are in place in some Island communities – including Courtenay and Parksville – where some neighbourhoods were evacuated Tuesday because of flooding.
BC Ferries was forced to cancel the first two round trips of the morning between Comox and Powell River, and has also cancelled the 10:30 and 12:30 sailings from both sides on the Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay route.
And, BC Hydro has also had a quieter morning in our region, with only scattered minor outages.
