Southern Rail says tentative E&N Line schedule is just a starting point

Southern Rail says people shouldn’t read too much into a tentative schedule that became public recently. The schedule for service on the E&N Line from Nanaimo to Victoria suggests it might not be practical for people hoping to commute by train.

But Singh Biln, Southern Rail’s Director of Community Relations, says it’s just a preliminary schedule.

Biln says the previous service run by VIA Rail was an inter-city service, not meant for commuters. He says they’ll try to tailor the new service to suit as many riders as possible, using the three refurbished rail cars they’re getting from VIA.

Biln says their plan to get trains rolling on the island again isn’t going to be derailed by scheduling concerns.
