While most of us were watching the weather, the earth had a surprise for us.
Natural Resources Canada says there was a magnitude 3.2 earthquake just before 7 Thursday morning. The epicenter was in Georgia Strait between Sechelt and Nanaimo.
Natural Resources says they had reports of it being felt lightly in places on the Sunshine Coast and the mid-Island, and as far south as Salt Spring Island. This is what it looked like on the seismograph.
There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected according to Natural Resources’ Earthquakes Canada page. The page also has a link for you to report if you felt anything. Scientists use the information to help with research into things like predicting the potential for damage from future quakes.
