Truck driver killed in accident at Catalyst's Crofton Pulp Mill

Catalyst Paper and the BC Coroners Service have confirmed a truck driver has been killed in an accident at the Crofton Pulp Mill.
In a statement released Thursday morning, Catalyst President Joe Nemeth says, “We are all saddened by this tragic accident. I know you join me in extending heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends during this very difficult time. Please take the time you need to assist and support one another during this challenging period.”
66-year-old Perry Vernon Thomas of Qualicum Beach was delivering wood chips…before being reported missing on Tuesday night. His body was discovered in a silo linked to a conveyor system on Thursday morning.

WorkSafe is now taking the lead in the investigation, working with the BC Coroners Service, the companies involved, and RCMP.
