Spilsbury elected to be chair of School District 79 again

The Cowichan Valley School District’s new board of education got sworn in and elected a new chair on Wednesday, in what was the first official SD79 Board meeting since 2012 to have more than one trustee.

Candace Spilsbury is the new chair, a position she held before from 2009 until 2011.

She says having experience is a luxury moving forward.

The rest of the board is made up of former trustees Barb De Groot, Cathy Schmidt, Joe Thorne, former long-time Ladysmith mayor Rob Hutchins as well as Elizabeth Croft and Randy Dorman.
