North Cow council appoints chiefs, deputy chiefs for local fire halls

North Cowichan council has appointed chiefs and deputy chiefs for the municipality’s fire department.

Neil Rukus is the chief of the Chemainus Hall while Allan Irwin is deputy chief. At the Crofton Hall, Ken Rukus is the top dog while Joe Bailey is second in charge.

Meanwhile, at the Maple Bay Hall, there is chief Mike Dunn and deputy chief Kelly Paddle and Scott Henning is in charge and Brad Coleman is deputy chief at the South End Hall.

Mayor Jon Lefebure says chiefs and deputy chiefs have many jobs .

At Wednesday’s meeting, council also extended the Cowichan Neighbourhood House Association’s stay at the old Chemainus Firehall until the end of March.
