BC Transplant encouraged by increase in organ donor registrations

BC Transplant says hundreds of people have registered as organ donors since they launched a pilot project in four communities this fall.

BC Transplant’s Peggy John says they partnered with Service BC in Port Alberni, Salmon Arm, Quesnel and Dawson Creek to give people the chance to sign up.

She says they plan to expand on the project, and make it as easy as possible for people to register. John says statistics show 95% of British Columbians support organ donation but only 19% have actually registered.
