RCMP looking for suspect in Boxing Day attempted robbery

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP have released the details of an attempted robbery on Boxing Day.

RCMP say around 8 that night a man walked into the Chemainus Village Liquor Store on Oak Street.

He was carrying a large knife and had a plastic bag over his head. He went behind the counter and demanded that the clerk open the cash drawer.

The clerk told him the cash drawer couldn’t be opened then got out of the area, seeking safety at the rear of the store. The suspect ran off, but not before grabbing a can of beer that was close to the check out.

He’s described as about 5’10″ with long, dirty blonde hair. He was wearing a green long sleeve shirt, black pants and white shoes with a black stripe near the toe.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
